The Good Girls

The Good Girls were an all-female R&B group from Westchester, California that consisted of members Shireen Crutchfield, Joyce Tolbert and DeMonica Santiago.

They were part of the New Jack Swing music scene and formed into a modern-day version of the Supremes back then.
In 1989, the group released their debut album "All For Your Love" on Motown Records. The album peaked at #32 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart.
Their first single "Your Sweetness" reached #6 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 19 weeks.
In the same year, their next single "Love is Like an Itching in My Heart" (a cover of the Supremes' song) peaked at #10 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 15 weeks.

The Good Girls appeared on Motown's MotorTown tour and on the New Kids on the Block "No More Games" tour in the same year also.
Their third single from the album "I Need Your Love" was barely successful, reaching only to #59 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks. They were featured on MC Trouble's single "(I Wanna) Make You Mine" and provided vocals for Dino's "24\7" album on the track "Boyfriend\Girlfriend."
In 1992, the group released their sophomore album "Just Call Me" which wasn't as nearly as successful as their debut album.
The title song peaked at #41 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 10 weeks.
The follow-up single "It Must Be Love" peaked at #47 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 17 weeks. They also provided vocals to rapper YoYo's 1992 album, "Black Pearl" on the track, "I Can't Take No More." During that same year, the group faded into obscurity.

Shireen Crutchfield pursued acting and was best known as her role as Jace on the Fox series, "Dark Angel." She also did modeling and has two children. She provided vocals on Diana Ross' 1995 album "Take Me Higher" on the track "Keep It Right There."

DeMonica Santiago (now DeMonica Santiago-Plummer) is married to actor Glenn Plummer and has two children. She has formed a child care center called Mylilsunshine Child Care in Canoga Park, California. In 2001, she provided vocals on singer Latrell's single "Dirty Girl."

Joyce Tolbert has appeared in the movies "House Party 3" and "Be Cool." She also guest starred on the television show "Eve." She has also worked as a stand-up comedian & provided vocals to the Whitehead Bros' 1994 album "Serious."

I found your blog through Milk Carton Pop Stars. I really like this blog, and I will be back!

The Good Girls are one of my favorite New Jill Swing artists from the 80s and 90s. I still listen to their debut.
