Juicy

Juicy were an R&B brother and sister duo from North Carolina that consisted of Jerry and Katresse Barnes. Through the faith of music producer, Deodato, the trio landed a record deal with Arista Records and recorded their debut album in 1982.
In 1983, they released their self-titled debut album on Arista Records which peaked at #57 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
Their first single "Love is a Merry Go-'Round" peaked at #75 on Billboard's Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 6 weeks.
In 1984, Juicy contributed the song "Beat Street Strut" for the "Beat Street" movie soundtrack. The song peaked at #107 on Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart, #27 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, and #76 on Billboard's Black Singles, staying on the chart for 4 weeks.
In 1985, they released their sophomore album "It Takes Two" which peaked at #32 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
The first single "Bad Boy" peaked at #32 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart and #41 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 12 weeks.
The title song peaked at #72 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks, but didn't make the Billboard Hot 100.
The third single and the duo's highest chart appearance to date "Juicy Free" peaked at #43 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart and #13 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 14 weeks.
The last single from the album "Nobody But You" peaked at #59 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 9 weeks.
In 1987, Juicy released their last album "Spread the Love" which flopped on the charts & after that, the duo faded into obscurity. In 2008, Jerry and Katreese featured new music on iTunes under the name "Jerry Barnes & Katreese Barnes."

These days, Jerry continues to write & produce music as well as playing studio bass for Roberta Flack and touring with Chic.

Katreese worked on "Saturday Night Live" for 10 years as a pianist, composer and music director. She has also recorded & performed as a keyboardist, singer & saxophonist for artists such as Sting, Mariah Carey, Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, D'Angelo, Diddy and Carly Simon. She was also the music director\band leader for the CW Network comedy game show "Oh Sit."
