Stacye and Kimiko

After Stacye Irvin & Kimiko Whittaker's previous girl group, the Sugar Babes split up after one album in 1987, they became a duo and signed to MCA Records.
In 1990, the duo released their debut album "Paradise" which didn't appear to make the Billboard charts at all.
The first single from the album "Wait For Me" peaked at #36 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart in July of 1990, staying on the chart for 11 weeks.
Their follow-up single "R.U. Available" flopped and according to the Isle of Deserted Pop Stars website, they were dropped from their record label.

Kimiko planned to release her own solo album in 1992, but sadly, it was never released. She co-wrote & arranged Salt 'n' Pepa's songs "Start Me Up" and "Whatta Man."

These days, Kimiko is married with two children and has her own business. As for Stacye, her whereabouts are unknown and she has appeared to have faded into obscurity.

What a cool blog! I was a huge fan of Stacye & Kimiko. I know Kimiko recorded a solo album that was never released. I've been searching for a copy of it for years...
